How Does Sculpture Die Casting Work?
Sculpture casting is done to transfer a sculpture to durable materials such as bronze, aluminum, resin, plaster and steel. To put it more simply, the process of casting the sculpture from the mold is for the original model to be longer lasting and durable. When the sculpture is cast, the work becomes permanent and lasts longer by preserving its artistic and structural features. Sculpture casting molds can be used by sculpture production companies, casting masters and sculptors.

At which stage is sculpture casting done?
The sculpture casting process, which is done after the original sculpture modeling and mold preparation, is done with the aim of increasing permanence. Sculpture manufacturers closely follow every stage of sculpture casting in order to reproduce the work in the most accurate way. Technical processes such as the preparation of sculpture casting molds, melting the sculpture casting material and pouring the sculpture into the mold are under his responsibility.
How is Sculpture Casting Done?
The following techniques are used in the sculpture casting process with traditional and modern techniques:
For sculpture casting, the mold of the original sculpture is first removed. First, a negative copy is taken and all the details of the sculpture are given. A positive copy is obtained from the negative mold using casting material. This is usually done using wax. The most commonly used technique for sculpture casting is the lost wax model. For sculpture casting, melted wax is poured into the negative mold; this creates the master model of the sculpture.
A durable ceramic shell is coated around the wax model by the sculpture casting workshop. After the sculpture casting molds harden, the wax model is melted and removed from the mold to create an empty mold. In this part of the sculpture casting stage; the melted metal is poured into the ceramic mold and the sculpture is shaped. Care is taken to preserve the details.
What are Sculpture Casting Materials?
Sculpture casting materials; It may vary according to the size, detail and area in which the sculpture will be used. Generally, silicone castings, polyester castings, concrete castings, resin castings and plaster castings are used.
Silicone castings are preferred to create flexible and durable sculpture casting molds. Likewise, in figurative art and commercial projects, polyester castings are preferred because of their light weight. Plaster is another material that stands out in sculpture casting with its low costs and easy formability. For small and highly detailed sculptures, plaster can be used for casting from a sculptural mold.
For the design of large sculptures and industrial artworks, sculpture casting workshop experts use steel casting, which is known for its durability and resistance to weather conditions. Steel is harder than cast bronze.
Resin casting, another option for sculpture casting molds, is also used for decorative sculpture. Its resistance to water and chemicals makes resin stand out in indoor sculptures. For lightweight sculptures and industrial artworks, aluminum castings are preferred for their easy processing and lightweight structure.

Removing Sculpture Casting Molds
After the sculpture casting process carried out by the sculpture production companies, the ceramic mold must be broken and the sculpture must be removed. While the roughnesses formed during the sculpture casting are sanded and the sculpture surface is cleaned, the ceramic and plaster pieces remaining in the sculpture casting molds are also cleaned. When the process of casting the sculpture from the mold is over, the surface of the sculpture is polished, and after the gloss and mattness reach the desired level, the parts are joined together. After the parts are fixed to each other by welding or assembly methods, the sculpture is completed.
